Many different Buddhist groups from the Frankfurt area collaborated to make this year’s Vesak (Ost Park) celebration a success. During the last Vesak (Ost Park) the celebrations, talks, and performances were damped with cold rain showers. This year the sunshine prevailed in warding off the rain clouds.

The evening of Mantras with Ani Choying was delightful. It is a wonderful experience listening to such soothing melodies and to know that it is the sounds of mantra (mind protection) that you are hearing. Ani Choying began the night with a special Avolokiteshvara mantra and ended with whole audience participation in the singing of Om Mani Pad Me Om.
This visit to Germany Venerable Choying brought with her a new video of her Nunnery and life’s quest. This video showed in detail workings or her Nunnery “Arya Tara School” including the daily lives her 54 students. This video made clear Ani’s life work of “one more concert one more child.”
April 24th 2008
This past April our Venerable Abbott made his usual visits to the USA for retreats in Philadelphia and Hartford. This time the Dharma teachings extended to the metropolitan with a joyful turn out at a cozy studio in New York City. The teachings and our sojourn to New York resulted in not only the growth of our international but in the acceptance of a new visiting member to our Pagoda of Frankfurt, Germany.

This year the Buddha’s Birthday was celebrated with Venerables from Frankfurt, Hanover, Japan, Sri Lanka, the Phat Hue community and many new faces. Being entertained by the Vietnamese singers and community performances, taking part in the Baby Buddha washing ceremony ( a Vesak tradition), and tasting the traditional foods were just some of the activities enjoyed by guests of the Vesak 2008 celebration.
