November 7 - 8, 2009

The Medicine Buddha Festival celebrates contemplation. His mantra is recited throughout the day: the resulting energy provides healing protection not only for spiritual practice, but also for daily life. By reciting the Medicine Buddha Mantra we ask for illnesses to be cured and illusions dissolved. The Medicine Buddha is a symbol for overcoming physical suffering as well as mental difficulties produced by greed, hatred, and ignorance. The day closes with a candle ceremony where everyone can send out healing energy to loved ones.

November 7 – 8, 2009 (Basic Course) / November 21, 2009 (Advanced Course)

Learn about the most important areas of the foot. Theory, self and external treatment, relaxation, and pain relief of feet are the first part of the course. The second part involves the treatment of human suffering and goes beyond purely symptomatic treatment.

Using so-called basic areas and knowledge of their emotional connections, we will work holistically on the foot. This means that in addition to physical problems, the potential location of the emotional disturbance is also detected and treated. Instructor: Doctor of Natural Sciences Holger von Jaruntowski

Consciousness School seminar with Zen Master Thich Thien Son (Gen. 1)

Abbot of Pagoda Phat HUeNovember 20-22, 2009

In our lives, we want to understand everything, so that we can have a clear understanding of our problems, conflicts and arguments. We believe that with much knowledge, we can solve all conceivable problems. Yet, identification with what we believe limits our development possibilities, while at the same time, we are so outwardly absent-minded that we cannot pay attention to what is substantial in our life.

The Consciousness School seminar analyzes all concepts and ideas, which hold us in captivity and involves us in the roles we play. A structured clearing-up offers us a glimpse of how our psyche works. With systematic training, we have the possibility of winning back our flexibility and of freeing ourselves from behavior patterns.

The Consciousness School training involves twelve seminars and takes place every 3 months. It is a continuation for Zen pupils who have finished Zen 12 and/or for those with regular meditation practices.

Place | Buddha´s Way Center, Ausserhalb 5, 69483 Wald-Michelbach (Siedelsbrunn)

“Letting Go” - Winter Retreat with Zen Master Thich Thien Son (2009-2010)

thay-neu-150x150This year’s Winter Retreat will be held for the first time in our new center, “Phat Dao/Buddha’s Way”, in Odenwald. Far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we can look forward to an intensive period of joint practice.

The theme of the retreat is “Letting Go”.

Actual release, and thus liberation, is only possible if we deeply see through the dynamics of our attachments to the 6 senses. The traditional practice of the ancients yogis, developed in stages, can support us. The theoretical basis for the practice is the Mahaprajnaparamita, The Great Sutra of Perfect Wisdom. This extensive work contains the basic texts of Mahayana Buddhism, like the Heart and Diammond Sutras.

In the mornings, Zen Master Thich Thien Son will deal in detail with the text, with excerpts and instructions from the above source, as well as commentary from Nagarjuna. During the afternoons, we will do small group work to deepen our understanding of the topics, and in the evening we will meditate and reflect together.

Please plan to arrive between 9 and 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 26, so we can eat lunch together at noon. At 2 p.m., we will begin the seminar. The departure date is Jan. 3, 2010, at 4 p.m.

An overview:

Dates: Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. until Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at 4 p.m.

Place: Phat Dao/Buddha’s way, outside of 5, 64893 forest Michelbach (Siedelsbrunn)

Fee: 525 €, which includes overnight accomodation and meals

(With appropriate reason and proof, we can reduce the price of the Winter Retreat)

Deadline: for applications is Dec. 11, 2009.

If you would like further information, or would like to register, please call 069-48449850, or e-mail info@phathue.de.
