We at Pagoda Phat Hue are honored to announce that the Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw will be leading a one-month meditation retreat at our new seminar and retreat center Buddha’s Way in central Germany.
The Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw is a world-renowned meditation master and scholar from the Burmese forest traditions of Theravada Buddhism. His loving kindness, encouragement as well as the clarity of his structured approach to meditation has won him many students around the world.
In Buddhist Tradition, the Medicine Buddha, also known as Bhaisajyaguru, is seen as the symbol for healing. It is believed that our diseases are caused by the three poisons - greed, anger and ignorance. By reciting the Medicine Buddha Mantra throughout the festival, we meditate on the characteristics of healing. This can help give us the positive mental affirmation to breakthrough emotional and mental blockages that usually keep us stuck in doubts and fears. Attendees will also be invited to do a candlelit prayer at the conclusion of the ceremony for family, friends, and other loved ones in need.
Ajahn Brahm’s visit to the Pagoda was by far one of the highlights of 2008.
“It was just awesome!” said one of our Irish participants, summarizing his days spent at the Pagoda with Ajahn Brahm. Over half of the retreatants came from abroad. France, Holland, Czech Republic, England, Scotland, Ireland, and even New Mexico were all represented by the hardy handful of eager practitioners who attended the event. Many who attended were so thankful that finally Ajahn Brahm (who was the gateway to Dharma for many) was giving a talk in their hemisphere. Read more…

A greatly anticipated traditional ceremony for the dissolution of karmic entanglement occurred yesterday at Pagoda Phat Hue. Over 200 participating visitors packed into the richly decorated Buddha Hall - at least half of the visitors were Western Buddhists. All attendees were very lucky to participate in the recitations and receive blessings. Read more…
Today after the morning ceremony Venerable Dhammadipa bid farewell to the Phat Hue Sangha.
Ven. Dhammadipa’s stay of 3 weeks in Pagoda Phat Hue in Frankfurt was nothing short of inspirational. The Sangha was led in a series of intensive classes on the Abhidhamma by the scholar and meditation master from Pa Auk Forest Monastery in Burma. The workings of mind, karma, and nirvana were explained in the intricate web of conditional arisings and cessations based on the ancient Buddhist system of experiential understanding. Read more…
This year’s LanternFest brought out the child in us all.
Flowing streamers and bright balloons greeted the guests as they entered the Pagoda. Once in, the children could not help but immediately be drawn by the pair of clowns (Hue Phap and Hue Nghi) making balloon animals of all shapes and sizes. The giant balloon flowers were especially impressive.
If you like potato sack races and partner balloon popping then the Buddha Hall was the place for you. Children ran and squealed with laughter for hours with gaming ringmasters Hue Ngo, Angelica, and Kelly. The smiling face of the Buddha could be seen staring out at the scene from his place at the altar as all around fun exploded throughout the day.
The Phat Hue Sangha and community friends began setting up chairs and benches, tables and stands, a dozen small and one gigantic white tent. Monks and nuns decorated the upstairs for the 30 ordained guests to come and set up the downstairs for the thousands of expected community members. The Buddha Hall was heavily furnished with fragrant blooms and golden fabric, the work reached climax at around midnight. Read more…
